El Monstro de la Cheapo
Living in L.A. has its benefits. For example, the bike marketplace is vast and occasionally bestows great values upon cheapskates like me. Here's a Y2K 750 Monster that I picked up one block away from the Sunset Strip a month ago for $900. The previous owner dumped it at low speed and wasn't too hip on fixing it, so he just wanted it to go away. It'll make a great communter for the wifey. Best of all, it's pre-crashed, so one doesn't have to go through all the karmic turmoil that derives from dropping an immaculate bike the first time. Remember. They were all brand new once...
